A Beautiful New Years Eve Wedding

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

I had the honour of flowering Anna and Christian's beautiful wedding on New Years Eve 2021.

This one will always remain in my memories I think... for lots of reasons! Firstly, the lead up was incredibly stressful for the couple and their families (and suppliers!). There were rumours in the lead up to Christmas that Boris was going to announce an immediate lockdown on Boxing Day to curb NYE partying. No one knew what was going on, the whole day was hanging in the balance. Speaking to Anna in the weeks before she was always so calm but I can only imagine how all this back and forth was dampening the lead up. I just can't imagine the stress for everyone. But anyway, the marquee went up a week or so before Christmas and we were going to go for it... and crossing everything! Thankfully, Boxing Day came and went with no announcement. The flowers were ordered and it was happening.

Colour Scheme

Anna and Christian really wanted to compliment the season with their colour scheme and decided to go with lots of lovely textured foliage along with burgundy's lightened with hints of soft

blush and ivory. The bridesmaids wore beautiful soft pink Ghost dresses.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held at St Helena and St Mary's Church, Bourn. Setting up the church with the sound of the bell ringers practising was so wonderful. Anna and Christian had two wonderful pedestals framing the altar with pretty pew ends framing the aisle.

The Reception

The reception was held at a marquee on the family farm. I love the blank canvas a marquee provides. A couple of days before the wedding I began setting up. Starting with two lush foliage hoops. Foliage hoops really help bring down the tall ceiling and add instant impact.

Tables were a mixture of beautiful tall and short centrepieces. The sun shone through the clear marquee roof on the wedding day. It was the most beautiful bright and crisp December day. Tapered candles surrounded the centrepieces in mixed dark and soft blues and they burnt long in to the night.

Wishing Anna and Christian the most wonderful marriage x
